Emmett Kelly

Leighton-Jones poses with a large self-portrait as Emmett Kelly C 1985

For six years Leighton-Jones was the official artist for the Emmett Kelly Estate. As a leading artist in the United States for his paintings of Clowns, he was commissioned to create a series on the great clown's life and work. He studied Kelly's life and researched relentlessly to produce an oeuvre that was to be exhibited in various locations including the famous Ringling Museum in Sarasota. Many of the paintings were produced as limited editions and within days of their release were sold out. The paintings are now distributed around the world in various private collections. The value of small edition prints probably rises about 20% each year from the time of purchase. If you are a collector they are worth keeping, if not, then they are worth acquiring.
